A Snail's-Eye View 2016 Acrylic, Canvas paper, 5.9" x 5.9"
We were assigned a task to collect as many different interesting items in a cardboard box and arrange them in any order we like. I collected tin cans, escargot shells, bottle caps, paper frills, rhinestones among others. We had to create a square crop for this assignment. I decided to keep my colour palette to earth tones and bluish purples. The painting depicts an imaginary scene of how snails' habitats will look like in the future. The tin cans, bottle caps etc represents man-made trash. The shells and the dried leaves are the only items from nature. I wanted to make them seem out of place with the other items. I used mainly bright colours give a false sense of joy and safeness to the world we live in. It shows how oblivious we are to the damage man is doing to the environment.
