"Mary Poppins" Film Poster 2016 Acrylic, Canvas paper, 16" x 12"
"Winds in the east, mist coming in. Like somethin' is brewin' and bout to begin. Can't put me finger on what lies in store, But I fear what's to happen all happened before." -Bert, Mary Poppins (1964)
The broken kite in the beginning of the film symbolises the condition of the Banks family. The silhouette of Mary Poppins in the hole on the kite represents how she was the key to mending their broken relationships. I included numerous elements from the film such as the chimney sweep, the weather vane, birds and the landscape of London. I also carefully selected a whitish light pink as my basic colour; a colour similar to the cherry blossoms seen in many of the scenes in Cherry Tree Lane.
