The Queen of Nymphs 2014 Pencils, Printed media, 16.5" x 23.4" (A2)
My classmates and I were sent on an excursion to the Singapore Botanical Gardens to take photos and research for two pieces (mixed media) with a theme of our choice. I stumbled upon what seems to be a Greek statue of a female figure near the Swan Lake. Thus, I came up with the idea of a beautiful nymph weaving her powers to maintain life in nature. I have used printed media for orchid petals to make up her dress, the leaves growing from her hair and also parts of the background. I tried to give the deity an air of grace and sophistication by giving her feminine facial features and poise.
