I haven’t been writing for a while due to my busy schedule in school and with work. Hopefully, I will get more time to finish up writing on my 2016 adventures in Japan.
Wakayama Castle 和歌山城, Wakayama
I’ll start off with my visit to Wakayama Castle. Wakayama Castle was built in 1585 on the order of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, a famed warlord in the 16th century. Today, the castle serves a symbol of Wakayama City and is considered an important piece of history. Unfortunately, the original building had been destroyed in a bombing raid in 1945 and what you see today is a reconstruction. Still, this place is worth a try for first time visitors.
Within the castle, there is a small museum which showcases many interesting artifacts collected over the years. Make sure you also check out the view of the city from the top level of the museum.
Another not to be missed location has to be the "slanted" bridge. This unique structure is the Ohashi Roka. It once provided passage into the grounds of Wakayama Castle while protecting the identity of its users.

Tore Tore Ichiba, とれとれ市場, Shirahama Town
We went to the famous Tore Tore Ichiba fish market for lunch. It is around 4pm when we reached and most of the food stalls were already closed. Lucky for us, one of the stalls was still opened and we were able to get our meal.
There are a variety of local products such as fresh seafood, spirits and confectioneries. If you are looking to buy Japanese food products, you might want to consider visiting. However, I would suggest you to go to the market in the morning when the seafood is the freshest and all the food stalls are opened.

Hamachidori No Yu Kaisyu Hotel, 浜千鳥の湯 海舟, Wakayama
After the long day, we finally settled at our hotel. Hamachidori No Yu Kaisyu was recommended to my family by my uncle. The room was very spacious and clean. As we stayed at the ground level, the view from our balcony wasn't that great. Well, at least we were able to see the beautiful sunset. The main highlight of the room is definitely the private onsen.
