Ever dreamt of being up-close with farm animals such as sheep, cows, horses, goats? Well, Rokkosan Pasture in Kobe might just be the place for you. Upon entering the park’s entrance, you will find yourself among a grazing field with flocks of flurry sheep. During my visit, they were not as flurry as expected. They just had their fleece sheared, perhaps for the summer. These animals are released by the farm to roam freely around to interact with visitors.
Many Japanese families were there with their young ones. It was a place for children learn about these animals and also for adults to relax and connect with nature. Visitors do not have to worry as the sheep are very gentle and seem generally quite clean.
The other animals were all in enclosures, however they were not too away from the fence and can still be seen well. You can also purchase biscuits from a vending machine to feed the goats.
For those who wants the full experience, you should try to catch horse show and the sheepdog show if your schedule allows. There are also many hands-on activities such as horseback riding and making your own dairy products. I didn’t do any of those as I wasn’t a huge farm lover and I didn’t have much time. Instead, I decided to allocate some time to try the dairy food products they sell at their food stall near the main entrance.
Desserts you have to try!
I bought their Rare Cheese Dessert as I saw almost everyone buying them at the counter. It was one of Rokkosan Pasture's specialty. The Cheese has a creamy soft texture that was similar to a pudding. The cheese taste wasn't overly strong and those who don't usually like cheese might want to give it a try as well!

The Camembert Cheese Soft-Serve Ice Cream is definitely my favourite! Freshly made at their ranch, their ice cream had a rich milky taste. It was especially refreshing to eat this after a long walk around the park.
